164d – ANTIQUE STYLE 20thC SOLID SILVER WAGER / MARRIAGE CUP, LONDON c.1973
Antique Style 20th Century Solid Silver Wager / Marriage Cup. The cup has the look of a young girl with a wide skirt in the form of a cup supporting over her head a smaller swiveling cup. The silver wager cup was created for use in wedding banquets, where the spouse drank wine from the bigger cup and offered his bride to drink from the smaller, avoiding pouring out even a drop of its content. Fully Hallmarked English silver (925 Sterling), London, year 1973 (s), Maker’s mark HD (silversmith specialized in commemorative marriage cup).

Antique Style 20th Century Solid Silver Wager / Marriage Cup. The cup is richly gilt and has the look of a young girl with a wide skirt in the form of a cup supporting over her head a smaller swiveling cup. The silver wager cup was created for use in wedding banquets, where the spouse drank wine from the bigger cup and offered his bride to drink from the smaller, avoiding pouring out even a drop of its content. This beautiful piece is made in the style of early ones, and commemorates the Royal Wedding of Princess Anne in 1973 (inscripted in Gothic characters along the rim). Fully Hallmarked English silver (925 Sterling), London, year 1973 (s), Maker’s mark HD (Maker specialized in commemorative marriage cup).

164f – ANTIQUE 19thC DUTCH SOLID SILVER STUNNING WINDMILL CUP c.1880
Antique late 19th Century Dutch Solid Silver Windmill Cup. This decorative cup is in the style of the early example of the 17th Century, the inverted bowl engraved with putti and applied with a pierced scroll vacant cartouche and lion mask drop ring handles. The top section is modelled as a windmill applied with a man carrying a sack of flour up steps, with the spout to the side. Hallmarked (acid tested shows a 800+ silver purity), the piece dates to around 1880’s and is typically Dutch.
Condition: In Great Condition – Just general wear.

The blowing mechanism is not in working condition, it needs a restoration.
