Re: Re: So, what is this worth? (Part 163)
I apologize for missing photos above.
It was not I who “moved or deleted” them,
but Photobucket and their wonderful new system.
163a – shabby chic vintage heavy brass bell 13 cm satin picture handle cottage garden
BRASS BELL, heavy brass with a few marks, handle is sateen type picture inside domed handle
depicting a cottage and garden, lovely ring
This is an often overlooked bell, and hard to photograph. Pictures of pastoral scenes or genre individuals behind a domed glass magnifier. The second and third pictures show another of the series. The British registration number dates it as 1953.
163b – 1930’s GORHAM SILVER DINNER DESK SERVICE BELL GREEK KEY DESIGN
BEAUTIFUL SILVERPLATED DINNER BELL MADE BY GORHAM……..MADE IN THE 1930’S……..VERY GOOD CONDITION NO DENTS……….HEAVY DUTY BELL WITH A GREAT RINGING TONE………WEIGHTS OVER 4 OZ’S………..NICE GREEK KEY DESIGN…………SIGNED ON INSIDE WITH THE ANCHOR MARK………..
Another “knowledgeable seller”, and only 50 years off in his dating of the piece. Internal mark shows it was made in 1878. Gorham made these tea bells for many years, retaining the basic shape and bell model number, but changing the decorative band around the base.
163c – VINTAGE GORHAM SILVERPLATE CHRISTMAS BELLS – 3 WISE MEN
A SET OF GORHAM BRAND, SILVERPLATE CHRISTMAS BELL IN THE SHAPE OF THE THREE WISE MEN.
THE TALLEST IS 5 1/2″. ALL ARE IN MINT CONDITION.
Gorham issued “Women Who Changed The Course Of History” as a “limited” edition of 5000, but managed
to sell most or all of the sets. The “Three Wise Men” was supposedly a “limited” edition of 10000.
Few sets or individual bells appear, so I suspect they came nowhere near that goal.
One crummy picture and a low sale price. What did the seller expect?
