Mick: You have a steel alloy bell. Several US foundries cast these from the late 1800’s well into the 20th century. Different sizes were available and priced accordingly. The 27 indicates the diameter in inches across the mouth. Most steel bells bear no date but some foundries dated theirs. The date inside is 1905. The 9 might like look an 8 due to a casting flaw or it might indicate the exact day of casting (1-8-05) Most foundries cast their name and sometimes their location on the yoke but some did not.
