Re: Bell Mounting
If you do not have original brackets and yolk, you can have a frame (A-Frame) constructed of strap steel or steel channel with a base mounted to a steel post. I have an 18 inch Liberty Ship Bell mounted this way on an 8 foot x 4 inch steel post with 4 feet embedded into the ground. A braided lanyard is attached to the clapper. The local weld shop mounted the bell and constructed the bracket for a little over $100. I have a similar post with a PRR railroad bell mounted to 1/2 inch boiler plate cut to the dimensions of the mounting base of the bell. This one is on a 6 foot post, 3 feet imbedded in the soil and places the bell at eye level.
